The Centro de Convenciones Cartagena de Indias is located in the Getsemaní district, outside the walled city. However, the distance between the two is short. It is a matter of exiting the city through the Puerta del Reloj and crossing the Camellón de los Mártires, a wide palm tree lined pedestrian walkway. The building has a splendid view over the bay of Las Ánimas and the wharf of Los Pegasos. The convention center has a grand salon (Barahona) for exhibitions for 2,000 people, an auditorium (Getsemani) for 1,400 people, four committee rooms for short courses, a General Secretary room which can be divided into modular offices, a VIP room that could be used for speakers as well as outdoor spaces for exhibits or trade samples. There is additional exhibition space in the halls of Expositions and Grau.
